The ramblings of the Mason family...

Although the days are still nice and warm it is starting to get dark earlier and the evenings are decidedly chilly (well for us Brisbanites anyway!). The solar heating is finally struggling to keep the pool at a temperature conducive to a swim and we have decided to turn it off this week for the winter.  Not before one final swim this evening though.

Our very busy day

It was a cold and frosty start to our Saturday (well as cold as frosty as you can get in Brisbane – 8 degrees!)  Rick and Sophie were up well before the sparrows this morning, getting out of their toasty warm beds at 4am to rug up in their woolies to go on a fishing/crabbing trip with one of Ricks workmates. They had a great morning, with Sophie proving to be a natural, casting her line and pulling in the fish like she had done it a thousand times before.  She was lucky enough to get the first catch of the day, although had to say goodbye to her prize fish and set him free again as he was a bit small!  An hour or so later and Rick caught his first fish, this time of sufficient size which proved to it’s peril as it is now occupying a shelf in our fridge awaiting dinner!  (yes it becomes an 'it' when it is in the fridge as opposed to a 'him' when it gets released again!!)

Still here!

Hello, yeah yeah we know we're a little slack on the old blog business - just busy with work, kids and everything else thrown at us.  We will post something interesting.... sometime...

Labour Day weekend

Having decided that it is high time that we went on another camping adventure we took advantage of the long weekend and set off on an 'investigation' trip ... basically checking out what the nearby Mt Mee national park had to offer in the hopes it would live up to the standard that we have come to expect from our favourite spot, Binna Burra.  We don't like the element of surprise when arriving somewhere with a tent and have learnt the importance of scoping it out first! So we loaded the kids into the car along with bucket loads of snacks and travelling activities, got the Knights in their trusty Hummer to join us and set off in convoy, armed with our walkie talkies to ensure communication between the two vehicles was at a premium.
