Spot the problem... mowing the lawn, stones and glass fences don't mix!

Home Improvements

I think I might have mentioned previously that a lot of our things from our flatting days just didn’t fit in to our new abode and we have a visa card in meltdown after our efforts to try and rectify that.  We have a new leather lounge suite for the ‘formal lounge’ which the kids complain is cold when you first sit on it, a new couch, carpet and TV in the family room and a very clean roof compliments of Ricks new gurney (and the several hours he spent balancing precariously trying to eliminate ten years of moss while not leaving any telltale marks or falling off and breaking his neck!).  Those of you who are particularly perceptive may recognize our new family room couch as the same one Sophie posed on months ago after our yum cha lunch …. Little did we know then that the one and same would end up in our house!!  The new carpet in the family room is delicious, all warm and snuggly – the type you can lie on and snuggle into while either chatting to Mum who is perpetually in the kitchen,  or while watching telly.  The yukka in the lounge room is called “Bart’- don’t ask!!  Our new diggs is beginning to feel like home. I feel some relaxation coming on at last …..

Working bee

Thanks to Zane (and Ange for babysitting) and Lee for their help with the working bee at our Calamvale place which we are trying to sell.  We painted an entire house in one day as well as a couple more days for a garden makeover and general clean.  But wouldn't you know it it was one of the hottest days in years, the mercury reached 43.4!!  As I type this in the middle of the afternoon two days later it's 23.6 degrees that's pretty much 20 degrees cooler.  Oh well all done now.

I guess the photo's tell all really.  Another hot weekend and yours truly is out in the sun and heat doing manual labour.  Well, it's pretty much done now, no more watering and no more mowing.  I just have another coat of stain and some border stones.
PS No sign of the friendly blue tongue lizard this time.

Backyard Blitz

I had a wave of inspiration and have put down some pavers and stones at the side of the patio.  The grass didn't grow due to the hedge and patio.  I tell you I can hardly walk - I feel about 250 years old.  The problem now is the untouched areas now stand out like a very sore (green) thumb!
Check out some of the before and after pictures.
